Dubai was not in my list of “to visit” places don’t know why! but anyway somehow this trip was planned and to my surprise, I was not disappointed at all!! In Dubai, everything is possible! It has all sand, beach and skyscrapers! Our’s was a 5 day trip. We covered all that we could without resting except at night as usual! ūüėÄ And if you have a habit of sleeping early, then forget that till you are a tourist in Dubai!

Dubai wants to set records in everything. It has world’s tallest building, world’s biggest 7 star hotel, and what not!! And no doubt they have constructed best of buildings here. Even the traffic system in Dubai is very good. There are very few traffic signals, because they have constructed under bridges and over bridges at almost all junctions, thereby eliminating the need of traffic lights. All in all, this place is a man made wonder!

Best time to visit: Ideal time to visit Dubai is from November to March. In rest of the months, the scorching heat will burn you if you roam around outside in day time. Dubai has AC in all closed spaces so not to worry if you are indoor in summers!

Where to shop: Dubai is a shopping paradise, specially if you go during Dubai shopping festival. Markets in Dubai are open till late and few places are even open 24X7 so in Dubai- you can shop till you drop ūüėÄ Few of the cheapest and inexpensive malls are – Day2Day, Carrefour, Dragon Mart, Ibn-e-batuta, Mercado. If you want to go for branded shopping then try the Brand Outlet Mall on Al-Ain road for factory deals. Else other big malls are Dubai Mall, Mall of Emirates, etc. Also check out Meena Bazaar for first copies and Gold Souq for gold shopping etc.

Where to eat(specially for vegetarians) :¬†We ate in Bur most of the times. Few of the good Vegetarian restaurants are – Govinda’s, Kamath, Bikanerwala, Mumbai Express, Sarvana bhawan etc

Places to visit and Activities: Burj Khalifa, Miracle Garden, Global Village, Butterfly Garden, Bollywood Theme park, Sheikh Zayad Grand Mosque, Ferrari world, Glow garden, Desert Safari, Marina walk, JBR walk, Dolphin show, Underwater Zoo and Aquarium, Emirates Palace, Burj Al Arab, Palm Islands, IMG Amusement park, Jumerah Beach, Hatta Safari, Dubai Museum, Ifly Dubai,

Traveler Tips:

  • Take care of your clothing in Dubai. No shorts etc allowed for women in Mosques, Global village, and few other places. Short clothing on beaches, in malls is fine but you never know when someone can object if not in proper clothes. And if they do, don’t argue, just apologize and cover yourself!! And in Grand Mosque- Abu Dhabi, everything should be covered except face!
  • Also weekend in Dubai is on Friday and Saturday, so expect a huge crowd wherever you go and avoid going to places that invlove queues, such as Ferrari world, etc.
  • Water is expensive in Dubai and no free water is provided at most of the places, not even in restaurants. So carry water bottles along with you. Buy 5 litre cans so save cost and keep it at your place of stay and refill your small liter bottles with that!
  • Lots and lots of walking is required in Dubai, so sports shoes is a must!
  • Sun glasses and sunscreen are must if you are out in sun.

The Journey

Day 1:

Our flight landed in Dubai around 11:30 am and it took approximately 1.5 hours to complete the formalities and come out of Dubai Airport. We checked into our hotel РWelcome Apartments 2 in Bur, Dubai. It is a very clean and good hotel. We booked 2 bhk apartments. The hotel is not on main Bur road, but just half a km inside in a peaceful locality. Bur has great places to get Indian vegetarian food and also many malls are there on the main road. Burjuman metro station is there in Bur if you decide to travel by metro but the metro does not go to all site seeing places.

We left for Desert Safari at round 3:30 pm. We were a group of 10 so we booked two private cabs which were included in Desert Safari package along with dinner, camel safari and dance shows. The same cab which picked us up from hotel took us for dune bashing. That was absolutely wow!! The driver made sure that we had adventure. Next they dropped us to the desert camp. The camp was huge and sunset looked amazing in the desert. Dinner, unlimited soft drinks, Dance shows were included in the package.

Next we went to Dubai Mall to see the Fountain show. The view of Burj Khalifa at night from Dubai Mall was amazing. The whole building was glittering like a jewel. And the fountain show added to the beauty of the view!

Still not tired, we proceeded for Glow garden. And we loved it! Felt like we are in fairy land. All sets were glowing magically. And finally after this long day, we went back to hotel!

Day 2

Second day was also fully packed. Our day started at 10 in the morning. We started with Dubai city Tour in our privately hired 14 seater vehicle. The places we covered included :

Jumerah Beach –¬†Lovely beach, blue water, white sand!

Atlantis Hotel –¬†Again we had no booking in it, so we could not enter inside. But if you want to then you can always go to Atlantis aquaventure water park!

DSC_0954.JPG

Burj Al Arab –¬†It is world’s biggest 7 star Hotel.¬†Only those with a booking in this hotel are allowed inside, so we could not go!

Miracle Garden –¬†This place is true to its name. It is certainly a miracle. Everything here is decorated with flowers, even a Boeing aircraft!

Ifly Dubai –¬†We went for ifly in Mirdif city center, Dubai. Its a fun filled adventurous indoor activity – basically a practise place for sky divers.

Global Village –¬†Global village is basically kind of an exhibition where domes of various countries are beautifully constructed and there is a local market inside each country dome. So basically it is a place for shopping and hanging out. And yes females are not allowed to wear short or indecent clothes inside. Nothing above¬†knee is allowed.

At last we returned to Bur, had dinner at Bikanervala’s and called it a day.

Day 3

Day 3 was a bit relaxed. We had booked morning 11 am slot for Burj Khalifa 125th floor visit.

Burj Khalifa –¬†It is the world’s tallest building with stunning views from top. Burj Khalifa is located outside Dubai Mall and its entrance is from Dubai Mall itself. In case you miss your pre-booked slot, then you will either get your turn at the end of the day or no turn at all and no refund ofcourse! So remember to be on time.

Underwater Zoo and Aquarium –¬†These two are also located in Dubai Mall. You may skip if you have less time!

After this, we were free. And since we loved Marina Walk and Jumerah beach so much, that we went to these places again for enjoying at the beach. Truly a bliss ūüôā

Marina Walk- I found this place the best part of Dubai. It appeared the most lively place of all in terms of people, shops, restaurants, beach. Something about this place is very charming. You will realize when you go there!!DSC_0156DSC04821

Day 4

Today we went for Abu Dhabi city tour and Ferrari world. As per time limits we had, we could visit Grand Mosque, Emirates Palace and Ferrari world.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque –¬†This mosque is truly grand! I have never seen a bigger mosque than this. May be I have not traveled that much ūüėČ But it was beautiful. The white color looked so serene. The chandeliers in the hall were just wow! You have to be fully covered before entering this mosque. If you are not, then they will provide you an Abaya to wear but incase there is lot of crowd and less number of abayas, then you might not be allowed to enter inside. So better wear appropriate clothes.

Ferrari World-¬†Finally the wait to sit in world’s fastest rollercoaster ends!! It actually travels at 240km/hr and heart beat rises to its max! Fully thrilling ride. There are two rollercoasters actually and both are really nice. We sat thrice in one of those! Go-carting was also good here. And yes 4D show was amazing-as thrilling as actual ride! Ferrari world has activities for all age groups. There are shows, simple rides as well. It opens at around 11 am and closes at 8pm. Try to reach there as early as possible and as soon as you enter, first thing to do is to book Go-carting time slot and simulator game time slot. Rest other rides can be done any time.

IMG-20170314-WA0041

Emirates Palace –¬†This is also a nice place to visit in Abu Dhabi. It is basically a hotel built like a palace with stunning interiors!

IMG_20170312_210541325

As Dubai is a two hour ride from Abu Dhabi, So we reached back Dubai very late and due to tiredness and closing time of restaurants, we ordered our Dinner from outside in hotel itself and ate at 12!!

Day 5 –

This day was for shopping! For cheap shopping, we went to day2day mall, carrefour and for branded shopping, we went to Brand outlet mall. Also for gold shopping, there is Gold Souq. This took up our entire day and finally at around 12am, we left for airport for return journey!
